Cry Wolf - another teen slasher film

Cry Wolf is another teen slasher film, the freaky-looking forthcoming horror flick from Rogue Pictures.

The plot of Cry Wolf goes like this –
When a young woman is found murdered, a group of local high school students decide to further scare their classmates by spreading online rumors that a serial killer called “The Wolf” is on the loose. By describing “The Wolf’s” next victims, the students’ game is to see how many people they can convince - and if anyone will uncover the lie.

Scary part…..the described victims actually start turning up dead! Suddenly, nobody’s sure who’s telling the truth, who’s lying and who might be to blame for these murders.
As someone or something begins hunting the students themselves, the game turns terrifyingly real.

Cry Wolf is directed by Jeff Wadlow from a script he co-wrote with Beau Bauman.

Julian Morris stars along with Lindy Booth (Rub and Tug), Jared Padalecki (House of Wax, Gilmore Girls) and Jon Bon Jovi.

The film hits theaters on September 23.

‘The Descent’ director busy with many projects

‘Dog Soldiers’ director Neil Marshall is busy with many projects after the critical and commercial success of ‘The Descent’. At the moment he has two new projects on the cards.

First is ‘Outpost‘, a sci-fi horror that tells the tale of a genetic experiment going horribly wrong. Currently onto his third draft of the script, Marshall hopes to start shooting the film before the end of the year. Marshall said that a deal has been done with Pathe to make the film, but it’s currently on the back burner.

‘I don’t want to get tired of doing horror films and doing three in a row would just be a bit too much,’ he explained. ‘I’ve done two aspects of horror, I now want to go away and do something different and come back to the genre with renewed vigour at a later date.’

After that the writer-director plans to make ‘Eagle’s Nest‘, a World War II action-adventure that is being inclined as a cross between ‘Die Hard’ and ‘The Remains of the Day’. Marshall revealed that ‘Dog Soldiers’ stars Sean Pertwee and Kevin McKidd may appear in both films. ‘I’ve always had this idea of putting together a company in the same way John Ford did, using character actors again and again.’

Conan the Barbarian back without Arnold

Warner pictures want to bring “Conan the Barbarian” back.

Although it won’t be starring Arnold Schwarzenegger it looks all set to go ahead.

Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Warners production president Jeff Robinov, who with director Chris Nolan has successfully reinvented the “Batman” franchise, says he’s hoping to do the same with the “Conan” franchise.

Warner is waiting for the “Conan” script from an unnamed action writer-director.
It is rumoured that Robert Rodriguez who is committed to producing the film within the next year is scripting the film.

“I love the character,” says Robinov, who is going back to two of the original stories. “It all depends on how the character is realized and the execution of the movie. You hope to satisfy the fan base and the broader audience. There has always been a fan base for the Conan character. So many years have gone by. You have to get to the core of who the Conan character was. It’s like catching mercury.”

Breakfast Club, Usual Suspects and Gladiator up for Sequels

Breakfast Club, Usual Suspects and Gladiator up for Sequels

Breakfast Club

Emilio Estevez (brother of Charlie Sheen) has signed on to appear in a Breakfast Club sequel, despite missing the 20th Anniversary reunion on MTV last month due to a family emergency.

He played high school sports star Andy Clark in director John Hughes’ 1985 detention tale

But Estevez urges fans of the film not to take his no-show as a sign he’s not interested in a planned sequel.

He says, “It didn’t work out but I love that movie. I wouldn’t deliberately avoid such a situation, it’s just that family called that night - and my kids always come first.

“I felt truly honoured to be involved in the movie. It’s amazing the legacy it’s had.”

He adds, “John’s got an idea for a sequel - mature aged students at college, all doing time again - for some reason or another.

“The twist would be that we’re all the polar opposites of how we were in the original. Judd (Nelson), for instance, would now be the straight-laced one. I’m definitely in. If it happens, I’m there.”

Also, co-star Molly Ringwald will appear in a sequel to 16 Candles.

Halle Berry reveals details about X-MEN 3

Halle Berry reveals details about X-MEN 3

Halle Berry appeared in New York to present $150,000 to the American Heart Association, on behalf of Oral B.

But let’s not stop there.

Halle Berry revealed information about Storm to do in the upcoming X-MEN 3. She tried to give info, without revealing much. Here’s what she had to say: “It (X3) is in production. Storm’s going to fly…I hope! There’s going to be lots of…there’s going to be some new X-Men characters from the comic book series that you haven’t seen before. And it is the end, so prepare for some big, you know…ending, if you will…to occur.

In X3 chances are we’ll see Angel and Storm flying. We might not see Beast flying but we’ll see him jump around like a speed-addicted monkey and it might seem like he’s flying.

Most particularly she stated that it was the last X-movie they would make to complete a trilogy. Also, Berry sent a note via her fan club email newsletter saying, “I’ve been laying low trying to take a much needed-rest and now I am ready to hit the ground running with my ‘X’ suit on!”

X-Men 3 has a wide theatrical release set for May 5th, 2006.

‘Texas’ Prequel will star Jordana Brewster

Jordana Brewster will play the lead role in New Line’s upcoming prequel to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

The movie is a follow-up to Platinum Dunes money-spinning remake of the 70’s horror classic, tentatively titled “Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning” based on actual events and the leading role is a character named Constance.

As in the first movie, which grossed more than $80 million domestically, the story follows a group of kids who run afoul of chainsaw-wielding psycho Leatherface and his demented family. The story will reveal Leatherface’s origins.

Jonathan Liebesman will direct for New Line and Platinum Dunes. Shooting will likely begin in the coming months for a fall 2006 release.

Most will recognize Brewster from 2001’s Fast and the Furious. She took time off after that film to attend Yale University where she graduated in 2003.

Michael Jackson sued by a financial company

Jacho sued Over Beatles Library

Pop star or a children harresing star Michael Jackson seems to want to be out from the controversies this year. Now a financial company specializing in asset acquisition sued Michael Jackson on Monday, saying it is owed $48 million in fees for rescuing the singer’s stake in the publishing rights to songs by the Beatles.
Prescient Acquisition Group Inc. said in its lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Manhattan that the pop music celebrity enlisted it in November 2004 to provide financial advice and to secure refinancing of a $272 million debt to Bank of America.
On behalf of Jackson and his company MJ Publishing Trust, Prescient secured $537 million in financing from Fortress Investment Group LLC, enough for Jackson to pay off the debt and exercise an option to buy the remaining 50 percent of the Beatles library he didn’t already own, the lawsuit said.
Prescient said it was entitled to an immediate payment of $24.8 million, which is 9 percent of the financing used to pay off the Bank of America debt and a $3.3 million advance to Jackson and his company.
Prescient accused Jackson of breach of contract, saying that it had done what was expected in a written agreement and that Jackson and his company were not entitled to “retain the benefits of those services in equity and good conscience without paying to Prescient an amount to be determined at trial.”
A lawyer for Jackson did not immediately return a telephone message for comment Monday.
