Lucky Paris Hilton
Paris Hilton was recently seen taking off her engagement ring and passing it around to her friends to let them admire it and try it on for size. A friend cautioned her against such treatment of the pricey bauble, reportedly a 24carat yellow diamond, one carat for each of her 24 years. “Paris was told, ‘That’s a very expensive ring to be passing around like that. Besides, taking off your engagement ring is bad luck,’” according to a source, who says that Paris replied simply, “I don’t have bad luck. So nothing can ever happen to me.” Err…what about that little matter involving a tape and an exboyfriend? Such concerns are now far from the heiress’s mind as she prepares to tie the knot with her fiance, Paris. “Even her family is very amused by the fact that they both have the same name. Paris, of course could not care less. She is determined to prove to be an excellent wife once she walks down the aisle,” says a friend. On the professional front, Paris is getting ready to star in yet another reality show, this time involving her own family. It is a peek at how one of the richest families in America spend their days. Sounds like fun!

Sexy Knowles plans for solo project
Sexy singer Beyonce Knowles has announced plans to take on a series of solo projects, just days after saying that her group Destiny’s Child will disband. Survivor hit makers Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams announced earlier this month that they’ll no longer be a trio when their world tour comes to an end in September.
But Crazy In Love singer Knowles, who has enjoyed phenomenal success as a solo artist, is planning on going back to the studio to record a single for The Pink Panther soundtrack. And is hoping to do more music for the upcoming screen version of the musical Dream girls, which she starts shooting in December. She says, “I grew up listening to the soundtrack and hearing about that play. I wish I could have seen it in the flesh, but they’re redoing it, and I’m so excited. For the first time, I feel that I’m going to be challenged.”
But Beyonce is in no rush to record another solo album. She adds, “I’m not sure if that’s going to happen (anytime soon).”

Musian out for social cause in Africa
Live 8 is a series of concerts set for July 2 con ceived in order to capture the attention of the G8 conference in Scotland, where leaders of the world’s wealthiest countries will gather to discuss the horrendous social and economic conditions in many parts of Africa. Its debatable whether a bunch of international fat cats gathered for longwinded symposiums and sumptuous meals will ever make a difference in the lives of the suffering, but its a sure thing that the artists involvedin Live 8 will raise awareness of the issues because they have a track record of having done so before.
Once again Bob Geldof, a member of the Boomtown Rats, is at the center of the event, although now he’s Sir Bob. This time, Sir Bob has arranged six concerts. Five will take place in five cities on July 2 London, Berlin, Paris, Rome and Philadelphia and a sixth will happen in Edinburgh on July 6. The last one will occur at the epicenter of the diplomats confab to remind them to spend less time stuffing their faces and pounding cocktails and more time on debt relief and aid to poor African nations.
