“Alice in Wonderland” holds the top place

Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” is ahead of Matt Damon’s “Green Zone”, the movie on Iraq war. The third place is held by romantic film “She’s Out of My League” and “Remember Me.“Alice got $62m in the three days of release and Green Zone grossed $14.5m whereas the two romantic movies grossed $9.6m and $8.1m respectively.

Avatar to be re-released with additional scenes

James Cameroon is discussing the re-release of the film Avatar with Fox and the version will have additional scenes that were removed from the original film. About forty minutes of movie was cut from the original version but it is expected to get only 10 minutes extra length to release it to the IMAX theatres. The move was removed from 3-D to make way for “Alice in Wonderland.”

Angelina replaces Oprah as most powerful celebrity

Forbes released the list of most powerful celebrities and it has five men and five women in the top ten. The top four positions are held by Angelina Jolie, Oprah Winfrey, Madonna and Beyonce Knowles. Tiger Woods is not the fifth position and other men in the top list are Bruce Springsteen and Steven Spielberg.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie starrer Hollywood flick ‘Mr and Mrs Smith’ which earned above USD 186 million at the North American box office last summer is remade by ABC for the television series.
The network has ordered a pilot, which the film’s director, Doug Liman, is expected to shoot, subject to availability. It envisages the pilot will be ready for midseason 2006-07 or fall 2007 consideration.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith revolve around a pair of married assassins hired to kill each other. But instead of the original stars reprising their roles, the filmmakers will be casting new unknown faces as married assassins in the latest incarnation of the movie. “We’re going to do a nationwide talent search and find basically the next Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie,” Liman said.

James Frey convinced the nation that he was a man who endured terrible tribulations and unbelievably hard time and survived it all. Yes, it’s not hard to survive what never happened I am sure. According to Frey, he was a major drug addict, a murderer in his mind, and extremely abused by society. In his book, he stated at a young age he started doing drugs and being a menace to society. The pop babe, Britney Spears took her four-month-old son, Sean Preston to a service at a Hindu temple in Malibu.
The 24-year-old star and her tot attended the ceremony without husband Kevin Federline but she was relaxed and smiling. And she did not mind photographers to get close to Sean Preston. She even adorned with a red Bindi, the spot Hindi women wear on their foreheads, as she left the service.
Britney who was raised a Baptist, previously took comfort in Kabbalah then took up Jewish mysticism and now she is dabbling in Hinduism. It means either she is not able to make up her mind or she want to try all religions to get her inner peace.

Actress Scarlett Johansson and her fans were left stunned when a TV journalist at the Golden Globes ceremony asked her questions on her underwear before squeezing her left breast.
A gay interviewer Isaac Mizrahi came forward while she was posing for autographs and asked her, “I want to know about the underwear you’ve got on.” When she replied, ‘Not much’, he said, ‘Not much, except there’s something going on underneath’. The Makers of the Harry Potter series are searching of a perfect Luna Lovegood for the next movie installment ‘Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix’. For the weirdo wizard role thousands of teenage girls auditioned on Saturday hoping that they will get a chance of work alongside Daniel Radcliffe and other cast members.
The auditions were taking place at the Westminster Central Hall in London. The blonde-haired Lovegood is described as having a somewhat distracted appearance and is called “Looney Lovegood” behind her back.
Casting director Fiona Weir also gave some hints regarding the character, “The wonderful thing about Luna is that she can have any sort of look but it’s a very particular quality that’s important. She is very other-worldly and not like anybody else.”
No acting experience is necessary, but those giving audition must live in Britain or Ireland. Meanwhile Harry Potter and the gang are busy preparing for their exams making the producers of the film Warner Brothers loose million because of halt in the progress of the fifth movie in the series.
