Brooke Shields, whose first experience as a mother led to write a book about postpartum depression, is pregnant with her second child with TV writer Chris Henchy.

The sexy actress is due to give birth sometime in the spring of 2006, her spokeswoman’s office said. The couple got married four years ago and they already have a 2-year-old daughter, Rowan, conceived by in vitro fertilization.

The 40 year old actress who is currently wrapping up her Broadway production of the hit musical ‘’Chicago'’ has spoken openly about her battle with the condition and even published the book, ‘Down Came The Rain: My Journey Through Postpartum Depression’, to help other mothers cope depression.

In it, Shields revealed taking anti-depressants for treatment of extreme despair and suicidal thoughts, an admission that movie star Tom Cruise later criticized publicly in explaining his own skepticism about psychiatry as part of his belief in the teachings of the Church of Scientology.

However, Shields lashed out back at Cruise, stating that he has no first-hand knowledge of what it feels like to suffer from postpartum depression and said at the time, “If any good can come of Mr. Cruise’s ridiculous rant, let’s hope that it gives much-needed attention to a serious disease.”

Now Katie Holmes (Cruise fiancee) is also expecting a child with Scientologist Tom Cruise. Cruise has recently been on a media debate over postpartum depression therapies.

Last month Shields told chat show host Oprah Winfrey she was desperate to extend her family, saying, “I’ve always wanted more than one child.”

Talking about her pregnancy Brooke revealed, “We’re thrilled. She’s (Rowan) pretty happy about it. It’s a lot of work whether you are (pregnant) or not,” she added. “Eight shows a week is enough to kill anybody!”
