Ray Liotta Singed to play ‘Dungeon Siege’ villain

Ray Liotta Singed to play “Dungeon Siege villain

After playing bad guy Tommy Vercetti in the movie like game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Ray Liotta, the “Godfellas” star and one of Boll’s favorite actors, will portray the film’s villain, Gallian, in Dungeon Siege according to Shawn Williamson, producer for Brightlight Pictures.

“I’m really proud that he liked the script so much that this is his first time doing a fantasy period piece,” executive producer/director Uwe Boll said. Uwe Boll has previously filmed “House of the Dead,” “Alone in the Dark,” and “Blood Rayne”.

Shawn Williamson said “Uwe and Tony are a great combination for this film! Together they will make this an epic action adventure film.

“Dungeon Siege”, the $60 million fantasy film, which the director said will run three hours, is based on Gas Powered Games’ million-selling PC game franchise. The director already has the rights to films based on Hunter: The Reckoning, Fear Effect, and Far Cry.

The director seems satisfied that “Gas Powered Games is so excited about the film script that they want to do an expansion pack or full game based on the filmâ€?, which is expected to be ready for distribution by next summer.

Liotta will be starring opposite Jason Statham (Snatch, The Transporter), who is cast as Farmer, the movie’s lead. Farmer must defeat Liotta’s unspeakably evil Gallian in order to save his wife and child.

The two will be backed up by a recognizable cast featuring Leelee Sobieski, Ron Perlman, John Rhys-Davies, Matthew Lillard, Kristann Loken, and Burt Reynolds. Burt Reynolds also announced as cast-members were game-to-movie vets Will Sanderson (House of the Dead) as Bastian, Brian J. White (the upcoming Tekken and Dead or Alive) as Commander Tarish, and German supermodel Eva Padberg as Julia.

Loken will be filming for Boll’s project in and around Vancouver through Oct. 11. Dungeon Siege is scheduled for release next year.

According to Williamson, “the story starts in the same way that the first game begins”.
“A peaceful town is attacked by the evil krugs, and a reluctant hero emerges to assist in the defeat of the creatures. He is joined by others along the journey”, the producer mentioned.

Also Microsoft Game Studios and Gas Powered Games announced that Dungeon Siege II, the ambitious sequel to Chris Taylor’s best-selling, award-winning action role-playing game (RPG) Dungeon Siege, has gone gold.

According to Chris Taylor, founder of Gas Powered Games and creator of the “Dungeon Siege” franchise, the company may continue to work with Uwe Boll “to take aspects of the film and integrate those back” into the future ‘Dungeon Siege’ games they make, “including games which leverage film assets”. Taylor believes the project is “an exciting and natural evolution for both the game and film industries”.

Dungeon Siege II casts players into a land deeply scarred by civil war, where they will lead an elite battle party against a vicious marauder hell-bent on bringing the world under his control, no matter the cost.

Dungeon Siege II is expected to hit stores next month. The new sequel will include a brand new 3D engine, real-time combat, and co-op multiplayer support.

The new game sends players into an elite battle party against a world dominating enemy. The sequel is said to have a deeper story, extensive quest system, and more sophisticated AI. Dungeon Siege II will retail at an MSRP of $49.99.
