Britney Spears’s hand is about to get a little heavier

Britney Spears’ husband has bought her an engagement ring nine months after they wed. The pop singer was forced to buy her own diamond studded band before their September nuptials because her then fiance, Kevin Federline, was reportedly short of cash.

But former dancer Kevin kept his promise and has now splashed out on a replacement diamond bauble after saving up for the romantic gift.

“I think it was because he wanted to buy her the diamond ring himself,” a source told America’s People magazine.

“She’s having a platinum band with a round, single diamond set in a classic style,” he added.

The ring from celebrity jeweler Cynthia Wolff is said to be similar to the band the pop princess bought in the exclusive store last year.

The friend added: “Kevin is giving it to her, which is a huge gesture, I think. He’s a real stand-up guy. It is lovely and she’s very happy and excited. The gesture of the gift is huge.”

The new ring, also designed by Wolff, is quite a sparkler, says the source, who describes it as having a platinum band with a 5.5 carat round, single diamond set in a classic style.

Though Spears was spotted testing out a similar version of the ring over Memorial Day, friends say the real thing won’t be delivered until later this month.
