Tom Cruise asks Katie Holmes to marry him in the world most romantic city

Now that’s what is called a whirlwind romance! Barely a month after they met, kissed, hugged and gushed about each other in public, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are getting ready to tie the knot. The Mission Impossible proposed to the actress on top of the Eiffel Tower and promptly slipped a huge diamond on her ring finger. “Yes, I proposed to her,” Cruise later declared with his trademark toothy grin at a press conference to promote his latest film, War of the Worlds.

“It was early Friday morning at the Eiffel Tower, I did not sleep a wink after that,” he revealed. “It is a magnificent feeling, to be engaged to a magnificent woman,” he added before revealing that he proposed to Holmes on top of the tower since he thinks that Paris is a “beautiful city and very romantic. Of course, this was my first visit atop the tower.” This would be the first wedding for Katie though Cruise has earlier walked down the aisle With Mimi Rogers and Nicole Kidman.

The couple has been dogged by rumors of an impending wedding since they went public with their relationship. Their first meeting took place after Cruise called up Holmes, out of the blue and their first date was aboard his private jet while cruising over Los Angeles, even as he served her Sushi. “The attraction between us was instant,” Holmes revealed adding, “I think he is very sexy”.

Of course there are the naysayers who believe that the romance is a publicity ploy since both actors have big films lined up for release, but the couple has always denied so.

“This is ridiculous. Something magnificent has happened to me and something extraordinary, and I am so happy I just can’t restrain myself.” Apparently he did not, if the shotgun proposal is anything to go by. In a bid to show the world that their relationship is serious, Holmes has even adopted his religion, Scientology, said to be the main cause of his divorce from actress Nicole Kidman. Cruise has reportedly even hired a female religious minder for her who follows Holmes wherever she goes and even insists on sitting in on her interviews.

Cruise’s public declaration of his love for Katie, which even included an outburst on Oprah Winfrey’s chat show, has also raised quite a few eyebrows especially since the actor has always been fiercely protective of his personal life. Details of his break-up with both Kidman and Penelope Cruz have never been made public and he prefers not to discuss his religion too much. But all that has changed in the past few months.
