Paris Hilton hacker jailed for almost a year
A 17 year-old boy, who hacked Paris Hilton’s account and posted her personal contacts on the net is sentenced to 11 months in prison, followed by two years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to hacking into Hilton’s mobile phone and making bomb threats to American high schools.
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, broke into T-Mobile’s internal database in January and hijacked Hilton’s phone numbers and text messages, which he subsequently posted on the net.
This led to hordes of crank calls to her friends, including Eminem and Avril Lavigne, and left the Hotel heiress embarrassed.
The boy, who pleaded guilty on nine counts of juvenile delinquency, will be on supervised release for two years, during which time he must stay away from computers and any device that can connect to the Internet.
More than 500 high profile stars - including Lindsay Lohan, Eminem, Christina Aguilera and Nicole Richie - were forced to change the incident. American TV star Victoria Gotti, the daughter of late mafia boss John Gotti, who was a victim of the cruel prank said at the time, “I got 100 calls in two hours. It’s driving me insane.”
Paris, who was on holiday the Caribbean island of Aruba with fiancĂ© Paris Latsis when the incident happened, was forced to apologise to her celebrity pals. She said at the time, “I feel horrible that, once again, someone has invaded my privacy. It’s too upsetting for me - I can’t believe it. “I want to apologise to all my friends and family. I don’t know why this stuff always happens to me, but I wish it wouldn’t anymore.”
