Sharon Stone is fuming, after Catherine Zeta Jones beat her to a movie role

Zeta Jones will play movie star Lana Turner in a film, about the actress’s romance with a gangster - but Stone insists the role should have been hers as she was Turner’s first choice for the role.

Turner had met Stone before she died of throat cancer in 1995 and the ‘Basic Instinct’ star claims the screen legend wanted Stone to portray her in any movie about her life.

The 47-year-old blonde had reportedly been in the running for the coveted role for several years before losing the part to Zeta.

Stone said “I met Lana in her final years and liked her a great deal. She was every inch the movie star and we got along really well. She said if there was a film to be made on her life, then I was her choice. Lana’s life is one of the most interesting of the Hollywood greats.”

The film will examine Turner’s torrid eight marriages especially the one to Johnny Stompanato, to be played by Keanu Reeves. Stompanato was killed by Lana’s daughter in 1958.
