Jennifer Aniston was overwhelmed by the chaotic media frenzy as she made her way down the carpet for the New York premiere of her new film “Derailed.”

“This is amazing,” Jen said. “This is my home. I grew up here, so I’m so happy to be here!” Meanwhile, Jen’s co-star Clive Owen’s arrival was much more sedate. The film has some powerful on-screen love making scene between Aniston and Clive.

Aniston says she doesn’t mind being called “America’s Sweetheart” but she hopes her performance in the sexy new thriller, “Derailed,” will help people see her as more.

In the film, opening November 11, Jen meets an alluring and married man, played by Owen, on her morning commuter train to Chicago. The two engage in a steamy affair, until a violent criminal discovers their secret and blackmails them.

Will their indiscretion end up putting their entire lives and families in jeopardy? Co-starring Melissa George and rapper Xzibit, ‘Derailed’ was directed by Mikael Hafstrom.

For Jennifer, it was a darker role than anything she has played before. She admitted there were moments when she wondered if she could play a married woman whose tryst with handsome Clive Owen has horrible consequences.

“(This role) was such uncharted territory and I felt such a trust in everything the director (Mikael Hafstrom) said,” she recalled. “It was interesting to him to take this (’America’s Sweetheart’) persona, or whatever the persona is that didn’t grant me the opportunity to do these types of roles, and put (me) into this part. That doesn’t always happen and so I really appreciated that.”

Asked what it was like working with Clive, Jennifer said, “Pretty much close to perfect, I have to say, there was not much broke with it. He was amazing; he’s one of the most talented men I’ve ever worked with.”
